Ghantoot A – Golden Tulip Al Jazeera Resort Polo Team may have won the UAE Red Crescent Charity Exhibition Polo match at the Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club this weekend, but the real winners were the orphans being looked after in these extraordinary shelters.
Each year, Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, the UAE’s only Royal polo facility, extends an arm to charities in the country by hosting special polo days at their state-of-the-art facility on the border of Abu Dhabi.
Friday, was no different as many people, young and old, rich and poor, came together at Ghantoot to celebrate the sport of equestrian polo and the noble cause of supporting orphans.
For the record Yousef Bin Dasmal’s Ghantoot A beat the Faris Al Yabhouni-led Ghantoot B Team in the but entertaining display of high-class polo.
Dasmal, Argentinian Juan Zavaleta and English professional Martin Donovan scored for the winners, while Yabhouni and Alfredo Cappella Barabucci put their names on the scoreboard with for the losers.
A good many children in orphanages around the world lack good quality clothing and care, but a visit to any of the UAE Red Crescent Societies will reveal a different story, thanks to the support of sports events like Red Crescent Polo.
Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club is run under the patronage of HH Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is fully committed to supporting all charitable organizations in the UAE through the Club, which was created by his late father, HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Ahmad Al Nuaimi, general manager of the Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, hailed the Red Crescent Charity Match a big success and said: “Supporting causes like the UAE Red Crescent Society is closest to our hearts at Ghantoot.
“It is a big accomplishment to be able to put smiles on the faces of the orphans through initiatives that benefit them. We are proud and honored at Ghantoot to be supporting our society and praise the management and staff at the UAE Red Crescent Society for their continued efforts.
“We always believe that by supporting charitable organizations like Red Crescent it will give the orphans the chance to have a brighter future and very glad to receive a lot of celebrities; and social media influencers to support this cause.”
