In an elegant celebration, Ankora wins the Union Polo Cup 2023 title in Ghantoot

The Ankora Polo team emerged victorious in the 52nd National Day Union Polo Cup 2023, held as part of the National Day celebrations. The team’s triumph marked its third consecutive victory in the tournament, securing them the Union Polo Cup. The Ankora team’s winning match against the runner-up Abu Dhabi Polo Team concluded with a score of 7/5, showcasing their exceptional skills and unwavering determination.

The tournament, organized by the Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Falah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Club, witnessed the participation of six local and GCC teams. The elegant event culminated in a grand celebration featuring performances by Abu Dhabi Police music team, traditional folk arts bands, and a delightful collection of traditional dishes. Guests were presented with a commemorative souvenir engraved with the country’s flag, a token of appreciation for their participation in this momentous occasion.

In a display of camaraderie and sportsmanship, the Al Faisal Polo Team, led by Sultan Al Faisal and Tariq Al Habtoor, secured the bronze medal, defeating the Ghantoot team led by Sheikha Alia Al Maktoum with a score of 8/6. The RA Polo team, captained by Ali Al Marri, claimed fifth place, overcoming the Al-Mughairat PBC team, with a score of 7/4.

Marco, a player from the Ghantoot team, emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, having amassed an impressive 16 goals. The tournament served as an excellent platform for teams to prepare for the upcoming Sultan Bin Zayed Polo Cup for level 6-8 handicap, scheduled to take place from December 12 to 23.

At the conclusion of the tournament, His Excellency Saeed bin Houfan Al Mansouri, Vice Chairman of the club, accompanied by Mr. Khalid Saeed Al Marzooqi, Executive Director of the Club and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, presented the participating teams with their well-deserved accolades. Saeed Bin Houfan extended his heartfelt congratulations to the wise leadership on the occasion of the National Day, expressing his gratitude for their unwavering support for the sport, he also expressed his appreciation to all attendees, participants, media representatives, and fans for their enthusiastic participation and contribution to the tournament’s success.
